Dental Implants

Dental Implants Tilton NH

Dental implants are a permanent way to replace missing teeth. These surgical tooth replacements accurately replicate the look and feel of natural teeth, improving comfort and aesthetics in one simple procedure.

Who Uses Dental Implants?
Dental implants are a durable, long-lasting solution for tooth loss. You may want to speak with Dr. Rabbath about implant dentistry options if you are missing one or more teeth due to:
  • Tooth decay
  • Gum disease
  • Root canal failure
  • Natural tooth defects
  • An accident or trauma to the mouth
Implants are an easy, instant way to replace missing teeth, improve overall oral health, and increase the brilliance of your smile.

How Implant Dentistry Works

Dental implants have three parts: a titanium screw, a post, and a dental crown. The titanium metal screw is inserted into the jawbone, where it fuses to the bone over the next six months through a process called osteointegration.

Once the implant has become integrated with the jaw, Dr. Rabbath will add a post to extend the height of the implant and top that with a dental crown, which will serve as your new replacement tooth.

Dental implants have a 90-95% success rate, and even higher when the procedure is performed immediately after extracting a tooth. The success of implant surgery depends on success of the osteointegration process, and is higher among non-smokers and people with a strong, healthy immune system. Dental implants are not recommended for anyone taking immunosuppressant drugs or with compromised immunity.

Benefits of Dental Implants

  • Appearance: A dental implant is meant to replace a missing tooth, filling a gap between your teeth. It is designed to look just like a natural tooth, so no-one will ever notice the difference.
  • Durability: Dental implants are stronger and longer-lasting than other alternatives, such as bridges or dentures. They are considered a permanent solution that should never need to be replaced.
  • Oral health: Gaps between teeth can cause other teeth to shift around the empty space, potentially creating jaw misalignment, bite problems, and decay. These problems can be prevented by implant surgery, which prevents teeth from moving.
